Flow Measurement Service (FMS) Security

Security for the FMS service (CygNet Measurement) is administered by the Access Control Service (ACS). As with other CygNet services, security is set on an application and event basis. The application name of the FMS service is defined in the service configuration file (CygNet\Services\FMS\fms.cfg) using the security keyword ACS_APPLICATION. The default value is "FMS." See FMS Configuration File Keywords for more information.

See Security for more information about security and CygNet Software.

FMS Application

The following table provides details about security settings for an FMS service application.

Service Application Name Main Security Event Component-Level Security Subject to Application Override

FMS (name defined in service configuration file)

ACCESS (name defined in service configuration file)

Yes (NODE)

See FMS Component-Level Security

No (not as defined for SCADA)

FMS component-level security sets an Application Override as optionally configured in FMS Node properties.

See FMS Component-Level Security for more information about setting a Node-level Security application.

FMS Events

Permissions for FMS events and tasks are determined by the service-level and/or Node-level security applications assigned, as described in the CygNet Measurement section of this Online Help. See FMS Security Events for more information.
